About

Hello and welcome. My name is Ian Lacey and this is my blog, ‘The Long Path’.

Having completed an MA in Public History at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2021, I have now embarked on postgraduate research.

Through a series of oral history interviews, I will be capturing the experiences of travellers from across the UK who went Interrailing between 1972 and the early 1990s.

Aside from history, my passions include travel and tourism, visitor attractions, accessibility, photography, music, and cricket.

In ‘The Long Path’ I want to share some of these passions. I hope that along the path, you will meet interesting people and discover places that inspire you to find out more.

Feedback about the blog is always welcome so please contact me.
